Emily Sandlin, Assistant Principal
Emily Lanier Sandlin, Assistant Principal
Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year! My name is Emily Lanier Sandlin, and I am one of the Assistant Principals at BES! This is my first year here, but this is HOME for me. I was a student at BES, and have spent the entirety of my educational career with Duplin County Schools, serving 10 years at East Duplin High School as a Technology Education Teacher. I am a Panther through and through!
I have been in the education profession since 2012, which is the year I graduated from ECU. I didn’t waste any time coming straight back home to do what I love: teach! (I also loved ECU so much that I graduated a second time from there as a Principal Fellow in 2023. Go Pirates!)
This area, this community, and this line of work is so important to me. My goal as an AP has always been to pour into the students, the staff, and the families of this community in an effort to ensure success across our county. Since becoming an educator, I have strived to create the same excitement around learning that my teachers did. I can remember being in Gina Miller's class scared to death, but leaving her class confident, capable, and just all around a better student. I want the same to happen for each of the students at BES, and I pray daily that I am a Godly example for them!
Finally, as the Assistant Principal, my job is simple… to take care of, love, support, teach, and motivate your children. Sometimes, this may involve discipline. I am also in charge of transportation. Please know that my door is always open and I welcome any opportunity to engage with parents and the community, regardless of circumstance or situation. You all are a vital part of ensuring the success of each student on this campus.
Feel free to reach out, stop by, or call if you have any questions or concerns about anything.
Go Panthers!!
